Seal, the iconic British singer-songwriter, graced the stage of the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA, this past Sunday night to kick off the 2024 season up on the hill -- and not only did he kick the season off with elegance and class as we've all come to expect from one of the best male vocalists in music today, but he did it while braving temperatures that dipped down to 46 degrees! It was absolutely frigid for the season opener, but the nearly sold out crowd braved the cold temperatures and bought a ton of the branded Mountain Winery blankets to make it through the night!

Seal delivered an absolutely mesmerizing performance that left the audience in awe. With his soulful voice and magnetic stage presence, Seal proved once again why he's considered one of the greatest vocalists of our generation. His vocals simply can't be matched and over his 30+ year catalog of songs, the undying theme of love and connection ring true throughout.

The evening began with an electrifying rendition of the T. Rex classic "20th Century Boy," setting the tone for a night of unforgettable music. As the crowd swayed to the rhythm -- and tried to get warm -- Seal effortlessly transitioned into "The Beginning," captivating all of us in the audience with his powerful vocals and dynamic range.

Throughout the evening, Seal treated fans to a diverse selection of hits, seamlessly blending classic tracks with newer material. Songs like "Deep Water" and "Future Love Paradise" showcased Seal's ability to infuse soulful melodies with infectious energy, while tracks like "Violet" and "Bring It On" allowed him to showcase his emotive storytelling.

One of the highlights of the night came with Seal's performance of "Prayer for the Dying," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that left the audience spellbound. As Seal poured his heart and soul into every note, it was evident that his connection with the music ran deep, resonating with fans on a profound level. Before the song, Seal spoke for at least two minutes about the ups and downs of life, about distractions all around us that affect our emotional well-being, and the fact that he grounded and right-sized his listless vessel by reminding himself why he does what he does. Recognizing that, he was re-energized and able to escape the downward descent that he'd found himself in.

Of course, no Seal concert would be complete without his signature hits, and he didn't disappoint. From the hauntingly romantic "Kiss From a Rose" to the infectious groove of "Crazy," Seal had the crowd singing along to every word, their voices blending harmoniously with his own.

As the night drew to a close, Seal admitted that "Crazy" was originally meant to be the last song of the set which would normally see he and the band leave the stage only to return for the encore. But considering how cold it was, he was going to skip the cherade and plow ahead with the encore without actually leaving the stage! From the pulsating beats of "Get It Together" to the soul-stirring anthem "Love's Divine," Seal left an indelible mark on the Mountain Winery stage, reminding everyone in attendance why his music continues to endure.
