You know you’ve hit on something when people all over the country are flying into San Francisco to
catch the two-night run of
Circles Around the Sun at
Old Princeton Landing (commonly called OPL by us
locals). OPL, nestled in the otherwise sleepy town of Half Moon Bay, is proving to be an up-and-coming
small venue to watch.

Neal Casal on guitar, Adam MacDougall on keyboards, Dan Horne on bass, and Mark Levy on drums
couldn’t have cast more beautiful lattices to the cosmos. The dance was sweet and the cheers genuine
from the crowd that I was happy to once more be at home in.

It was a truly cosmic experience but I’d anticipated that given Circles Around the Sun’s history. They came
together for the hugely important
Fare Thee Well Grateful Dead shows, which proved to be a
resurgence of the ideals and run-away jams that Deadheads have long embraced. Circles Around the Sun's music,
composed to play during the set breaks, further ignited that spark.

Despite the fact that they formed solely in support of the final five shows that Deadheads
everywhere were waiting 20 years for, the music isn’t stopping for Circles Around the Sun anytime soon. If
you haven’t checked out their
Let It Wander (iTunes) and
Interludes for the Dead (iTunes) albums, do! I’m keeping an eye
out for additional tour dates in my sweet little Half Moon Bay, forever grateful to those attending,
supporting and positively rocking the house.
